Dal Palak is very healthy and
nutritious dish which is the most popular in Pakistan and India.Everyone has
their own version of this dish. Hot rice and Dal Palak make one of the most
soothing and fulfilling combination.
Like most of the Pakistani and Indian recipes this is very adaptable and
is cooked in different ways.
Ingredients: -
1 cup Chana Dal (bengal gram)
2 cups chopped Fresh Spinach
(palak)
1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
1 large Onion, finely chopped
¾ tsp Red Chilli powder
¼ tsp Haldi Powder
2 tomatoes (cubed)
1 teaspoons Ginger-Garlic
Paste (or crushed)
2 Green Chillies, finely
chopped
1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
3 -4 tablespoon Oil
Salt
Direction For Cooking:-
1. Run water through the dal and soak it in
water for 15-20 minutes. Drain and pressure-cook with1 cup water and salt for 3-whistles in pressure
cooker over medium flame.
2. Turn off flame, it will take around 7-8
minutes. Open the lid and keep aside until required.
3. Clean and wash chopped palak(Spinach).
4. Blanch the palak (spinach); Put the Palak(
spinach leaves) in the boiling water, and allow them to boil for 30 seconds to
1 minute until you see a bright green color. Drain
the excess water from the spinach with a slotted spoon or strainer.
5. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
6. Add cumin seeds, when seed turn light brown,
add chopped onion and sauté until it turns light brown.
7. Add ginger-garlic paste, chopped green
chilli and sauté for 30-40 seconds.
8.Add tomatoes and stir well, now add red
chilli powder,salt,turmeric and coriander powder and mix well for 5-7 min till
tomatoes r tender and masala is well combined in this mixture.
9.Add the palak ,cook for 2-3 minutes.
10. Now Add 1/2 cup water and boiled Dal.Mix
well.
11.Cook for another 5-7 min until desired
consistency is achieved.
12. Sprinkle the Garam Masala and 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice.
13.Serve with white boil rice or roti.
