Matar Pulao (Peas & Rice)




This Matar Pulao recipe is amazingly delicious and your kids will definitely will love it too with plain yogurt. 





Things We Will Need:-

Oil – ½ cup
Rice -2 cups
Matar (Peas) – ½ cup (canned)
Garlic cloves -3 chopped
Onion -  ½ sliced
Cumin seeds :- 1 tsp
Whole Spices (Sabit Garam Masala): -
Cloves(long)- 4
Black Pepper -8
Cinnamon – 1 stick
Bay leave -1
Salt – 1 ½ tsp

Instructions:-

  1. Wash the basmati rice till the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice for 30 minutes. ...
  3. Heat oil in a pot.
  4. Then Add thinly sliced (half) onion. Fry onions till golden brown.
  5. Add garlic chopped.
  6. Add the cumin seeds along with all the whole spices.
  7. Saute till the spices release their aroma and become fragrant.
  8. Then add ½ cup canned peas.
  9. Stir well and saute for a minute.
  10. Now add the drained rice and stir gently and saute for a minute.
  11. Then add 4 cups water
  12. Season with Salt and stir well.
  13. Cover the Pot lid tightly and cook the rice on medium flame till all the water is absorbed and rice grains are cooked.
  14. Now on very low flame cook the rice with tight lid for 10 minutes more.
  15. Open the lid carefully because it will be full of steam at this point.
  16. Fluff the rice and serve rice hot with yogurt, raita and fresh salad.
